Samantha Rotunda, wife of Bray Wyatt, reportedly filed for divorce in what has become a far too common trend among WWE's higher-profile stars. - From Forbes
Details of Wyatt’s divorce are still being revealed, but all signs point to an ugly split with allegations of adultery, specifically with Raw ring announcer JoJo Offerman, coming from Wyatt’s estranged wife.
Wyatt, through his lawyers, has referred to these allegations as ”defamatory statements about the husband to several people in the community in an effort to ruin his reputation.” Though they are contractually bound by WWE, which can dictate whether or not talent can make outside appearances, WWE Superstars are classified as independent contractors as opposed to employees.
This allows WWE to save a fortune in employment taxes while passing the savings on to talent who, as independent contractors, are subject to double taxation, including a 15.3% self-employment tax.
This questionable business practice has led to long-standing, yet ultimately fruitless, discussions of WWE Superstars unionizing.
Divorce is hardly foreign to public figures, and it especially seems to be the case with WWE Superstars at the highest level.
