Under the best of circumstances, Pocono is a track where the field tends to get strung out in fairly short order.
The combination of shortening the race from 500 to 400 miles, which happened in 2012, and adding stages this year, made it more compelling to watch on television.
Think about it: None of the four Joe Gibbs Racing drivers have won yet, nor have talented racers like Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer, Chase Elliott, Erik Jones, Jamie McMurray or Dale Earnhardt Jr.
With the mix of seasoned veterans we have in this sport, along with the young talent, the racing is as good as its ever been.
These are the good old days, my friends.
