An attempted smash-and-grab style robbery at the Glendale Galleria led to panic among mall patrons after a security guard fired a weapon on Saturday, March 10.
One person was in custody and police were searching for two others on Saturday afternoon following an attempted robbery at a Bhindi Jewelers store in the mall shortly after 2:45 p.m., Glendale Police Officer Dan Suttles said.
A security guard fired one to three shots, Suttles said, but no one was injured.
Some mall visitors mistakenly thought there was an active shooter in the mall, based on hearing one or more shots and seeing the commotion on social media.
I was not scared because I experienced something similar when I lived in Philippines.” Jerick Joaquin, a 22-year-old Charleys Philly Steaks employee from Glendale, said he tried to hide when he heard gunshots.
