Toni Braxton was recently taken to a Los Angeles hospital due to complications from lupus but is now on the mend, according to her reps.
She was not in serious condition, though lupus is a serious disease and must be monitored at all times," Braxton's representatives added.
Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease, causing inflammation to a person’s internal organs, joints and skin.
Lupus is not contagious and may be caused by a number of factors, including hormones, genetics and one’s environment, according to the Lupus Foundation of America.
Many fans of the Grammy award-winning artist, 48, first learned about Braxton's battle with lupus in 2011, when she revealed the nature of the disease to her family on their hit reality television show, "Braxton Family Values."
