Patrick Beilein, the son of Michigan head coach John Beilein, has taken up the family business of coaching a basketball program.
In 2015, Le Moyne once again put its basketball program in the hands of another Beilein, Patrick.
Named Coach of the Year of the Northeast-10 Conference during the 2016-17 season, Beilein and the Dolphins are well on its way for its second consecutive number-one seed in the upcoming Division II NCAA Tournament.
Meeting with reporters on Wednesday, the elder Beilein gave his thoughts on the coaching job his son has done in such a short time, "To put it in perspective, I was there for nine years and there were less teams that made the tournament so I won't give him all the credit, but I think I was named Coach of the Year one time in nine years and I think we made the NCAA Tournament one time the whole time," Beilein said.
I think he values teaching a great deal as much as I do." Beilein has made comments throughout the years about discussing his basketball team with his son, even going as far as saying that he takes suggestions from Patrick on adding things on the court.
