A giant open-air beer garden and 23,000 litres of Bavarian beer are coming to Hull as an authentic German festival returns to the city for a summer outing.

After underestimating the popularity of the festival, London Oktoberfest Ltd, who manage the event, are this year bringing a tent which can cater for 2,000 people and a 23,000 litre tank of German ale to the City of Culture.

Julie Bui, marketing assistant for London Oktoberfest, said: "Last year it was a very big surprise and we did not expect it to be such a big success.
The company which tours its Oktoberfest experience around the UK, stopping at various places including Edinburgh, London and Manchester, was particularly keen to return to Hull in the year that it celebrates its tenure as City of Culture.
Oktoberfest is a way to introduce genuine German culture to British people so this year with Hull being the City of Culture it was the perfect place for us to come back to.
