Weeks after rumblings surfaced that a new series was in the works, ABC made it official on Tuesday, announcing that it will be bringing back the iconic comedy series for an eight-episode reboot in 2018.
Roseanne Barr (Roseanne), John Goodman (Dan), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Michael Fishman (D.J.) and Lecy Goranson (Becky) are all back in the saddle.
Notably, Sarah Chalke -- who played Becky in later seasons of Roseanne's original ABC run -- will take on another character.
In the series finale that aired in 1997, it was revealed that the heart attack Dan suffered at the end of season eight was fatal and that the entire ninth season, including the family winning the lottery, was a story dreamt up by Roseanne Conner.
In late April, Barr took to Twitter to say that she "of course" wants "to do a reboot of Roseanne," citing the country's "new political reality" as for making "some great jokes." Roseanne ran for nine seasons on ABC from 1988 to 1997, and was America's most-watched show from 1989 to 1990.
