The recall came after it was discovered that a certain can of chicken soup actually contained a different kind of soup. - From NOLA.com
No illnesses have been reported so far as a result of the soup switch.
According to the agriculture department, cans labeled as "Campbell's Homestyle Healthy Request Chicken with Whole Grain Pasta" actually contained the contents of "Campbell's Homestyle Healthy Request Italian-Style Wedding Spinach & Meatballs in Chicken Broth." The department said the mislabeling led to the public's unawareness of milk, a known allergen, in the problematic soup product.
The department also said the mislabeled soup cans were shipped to Florida retailers.
The problem was discovered Thursday, when Campbell's was notified from their corporate office that they had received complaints from consumers about incorrect labeling.
