March 24 (UPI) -- German candy company Haribo, makers of gummy candies, will build its first North American factory in Wisconsin, Gov.
The new gummy bear manufacturing facility will open in Kenosha County in 2020.
Haribo's iconic product is formally called the "GoldBear," a small, gum-based soft candy shaped like a teddy bear.
The family-owned company, based in Bonn, Germany, produces 100 million gummy bears daily for global consumption and employs nearly 7,000 people around the world.
The state's business-friendly climate and strong fiscal management, along with our dedicated workforce and reliable infrastructure, are among the many reasons Haribo decided Wisconsin was the right choice for this facility," Walker said Thursday in a statement.
